- 【Job Summary】
The Institute of Statistical Science at Academia Sinica invites applications for 1-2 Postdoctoral Fellows for one-year (renewable annually), beginning at earliest January 1, 2016, under the supervision of Dr. Frederick Kin Hing Phoa. The applicant will be involved in one or more research projects conducted by Dr. Phoa, and his area of researches include
(1) Theoretical and Applied Designs and Analysis of Physical, Biomedical, Social and Computer Experiments
(2) Variable Selection Methods
(3) Metaheuristic Optimization and Parallel Computing
(4) Big Data Analysis (Social Network, Internet, Real-Time Finanical Data, etc)
(5) Statistical Methods Applied to Physical and Biological Sciences
The applicant who has his/her own research plan in above or related areas is also welcome.
【Requirements】
(1) Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics or a related discipline;
(2) Research experience/background in experimental designs, industrial statistics, social networks or finanical statistics are particularly welcome, but not mandatory;
(3) Strong theoretical background and strong programming skills, including R and Matlab;
(4) Proficiency in statistical computing;
(5) Strong oral and written communication skills;
(6) Independent, well-organized, self-motivated, and interested in theoretical and methodological researches.

Applications, including a brief description of research focus or career plan, a current curriculum vitae (includes a publication list if exist), and a pdf of Ph.D. thesis/dissertation, must be received electronically via email to fredphoa@stat.sinica.edu.tw (use 〝Post-Doctoral Application 2016〝 as the subject line). Review of applications will commence on December 1, 2015 and will continue until successful candidates are identified.
【Work Remuneration】
The salary grade follows the pay rate provided by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of Taiwan. Candidates with excellent qualifications may receive higher pay rates from Academia Sinica. Labor Insurance and National Health Insurance are covered.
